Hurst shifter?

I saw that Hurst has a replacement retro shift set up w/ the slap shift option. Does anyone know if this actually speeds up shift times or anything like that. If it doesn't does anyone know how I could increase shift times.

with the diablo sport predator I disabled the autostik upshift so I could hold the rpm to the 6.500 redline and shifted. you can also set the trans for the firmer shift option and leave it in drive and the trans will shift quicker and firmer on its own.
