Default Overheated rt

Hey guys new here, got the opportunity to pick a an 05 magnum Rt with the 5.7 hemi. Glanced at it yesterday planning on going back this weekend to check it out more. Don't have much history on it just was told it was overheated and no coolant in the radiator. Checked oil seemed ok, gotta install a battery and make sure it cranks but anything else I should be looking for? I'm a diesel mechanic and not familiar with the hemis what so ever

You need to look at the bleed procedure for the 5.7 cooling system. Just filling it will leave an air pocket and it will still possible overheat if the air is not bleed out.

How bad was it overheated? Bad enough overheat on an 05 gets you a dropped valve seat.

Unfortunately I'm not sure, found it sitting in a pile of weeds and asked about it

Be prepared to replace the engine.
My '05 is at Pro Engines in Elon, NC right for a reman motor. Original motor was trashed by 3 dropped valve seats that occurred after replacing a leaking radiator.
Apparently, if the cooling system is not thoroughly "bled", an air pocket will become trapped in the head causing a serious hot spot that results in loose valve seats & ultimately leads to total destruction.

Plan for a new motor. Anything less is a blessing.
