Magnum Man SRT8 is on a distinguished road
Default Operating temperature range on 6.1 SRT

Hello Magnum community!

I have a question regarding the operating temperature range on a 6.1 Hemi engine. I noticed this morning while driving to work that my temperature gauge was slightly over the 215 mark.

This was during traffic driving and when I had the ability to open her up a little bit it then dropped slightly under the 215 mark. I just had the coolant system flushed this past Saturday so it has fresh coolant.

Is this something that most 6.1 SRT8 Magnum owners experience?

Is this normal?

Should I be worried?

Pretty sure yours is the same as the Hemis in the Challengers (5.7 & 6.1). Should have a 203 degree thermostat, low speed fan kicks in at 217 and high speed comes on at 226. I have a 180 T/S in my Challenger with my low speed fans set I think at 188 and high at 197. My temps are usually in the low 190s during the summer and do run hotter the faster I go (more heat build up from the higher RPMs). I think your temps are fine, if they start climbing well over that 226 would be time to worry.
