Default CAT or not

Dear Magnum People,

Is there any way of, instead of fitting high flow sports CATs, just ditching the CATs altogether and having a straight bit of pipe?

How would the engine management computer be fooled into thinking the CATs were still there? Can I get a 'dummy CAT' module to plug into the CAT sensor connector points, giving out a default standard signal to keep the management system happy?

Surely, doing this would cost less and give both more sound and more power.
Or am I wrong..?

Your insights would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Regards,
Daf-T

Well getting rid of the cats may depend if you have an emissions program you need to pass. You would need a custom tune to get around the O2 sensors throwing codes and I think you have to do that even with high flow cats.

I've put high flow cats on cars in the past, and I've also done the off road pipes too. The off road pipes do seem to make more power, and more rumble. But yeah, the newer cars need a tune to stop the cel. You can get mil eliminators for Mustangs, but I've heard mixed results from them. A good high flow cat shouldn't need a retune, but maybe the LX cars do. But now that I'm getting older, and thinking about the world I am leaving my kids to, I will always use cats from now on. I know, I know, that's not very hot rodder, but it just seems more responsible nowadays.
