Hi Im new to the forums and looking forward to learning more about my 06 Magnum R/T. Owned her since new and have 94000 on her. So far have only had to replace one tie rod end. Love this machine! The past few months however I have had a slight problem when I am slowing down to stop. Even If I am coasting to a stop with foot OFF the brake and no where near the gas pedal. When the engine gets down just past 1000 rpm she will surge up slightly and then start back down again. Have used same 89 gas as I always have. Car is maintained as the manual suggest. Plugs changed not too long ago but problem started before plugs were changed. Recalibrated apps. anyone else have this issue?

New Product! Check out these awesome new LED Shop Lights from Oracle Lighting.

LED lamps have HUGE advantages over conventional Halogen lights besides looking better and consuming less power they are also more durable, brighter, and last 8x longer.

Check them out here:
http://www.automotivelightstore.com/shoplights.aspx

SAVE! Form Members enter code: "SHOPLITE" to get 10% OFF your ORACLE LED Shop Light Purchase (coupon only applies to items in this category).

More Info:
LED Shop lights have many advantages over traditional halogen work lights. The LED versions are 10x as efficient as halogen, this means a 30W LED light would be equivalent to a 300W Halogen, that is some serious energy savings! LED work lights also put out no heat which makes for a much more comfortable working environment. Halogen work lamps are known for being fragile, if you were to drop a halogen lamp it would no longer work while LED work lights are completely shock-proof. Halogen lamps will burst if splashed with water while heated, these LED units are waterproof and can even be used in the rain.

More LED Shop Light Advantages:

•High efficiency eco-friendly Bridgelux LEDs only consume 1/10th the power of a traditional halogen lamp.
•LED lamps do not put out any heat while halogen get so hot that they can actually burn and cause injury.
•Bridgelux LEDs are rated at 50,000 hours of continuous use, that is 8x longer than a standard halogen bulb.
•ORACLE Shop Lights feature premium Bridgelux LEDs which are powerful, high quality chips MADE IN THE USA!
•These Solid-State lights are shockproof and will not go out if jarred or vibrated like a halogen bulb would.
•ORACLE LED Shop Light housings are rated for outdoor use and can be used in wet, rainy, or snowy conditions.

My 2006 Magnum does not have these.. Just pick it up, and snap in the support rod.. Did/Do, any Magnums come with these air/gas supports, or are these just aftermarket items? I do recall that back on the hood hinge, there is a "ball" to mount something on..
Any experience on this?

I think I was born un-lucky or something!!! So Maggie started leaking coolant last week and I got her torn apart and all I could figure was the thermostat housing gasket was leaking. So I picked up a new t-stat, housing, housing gasket and two jugs of coolant (all from the dealership). Everything finally came in (our local dodge dealerships doesn't stalk much of anything) and I got everything put back together, bleed the system, started her up and after about 5 minutes of running I started seeing coolant leaking on the ground again. . . .REALLY?????? So I will be tearing stuff apart again, either tonight or tomorrow and find out where its leaking from. . . . .and no, the block is not cracked. . .thank God!!

On the Hose-Heater Return (PN# 04596755AC) there is a o-ring that is on the flange end. . .see picture.

The dealer ship could not pull up any part number for that o-ring but they could pull up the Hose-Heater Return pipe, but they did not have any there so I could look and see if that o-ring was on there (the part is dealer only and is $80!!!). So the thermostat (PN# 04663729AE) had a o-ring (it was the same size as the pipe, but no as fat as the old o-ring which as you can see is flattened) that came with it and I was assuming it was for the Hose-Heater Return pipe. . .I think that was wrong (since its still leaking). So, where do I get o-rings from and is there anyone who knows if there is a specific part number for that o-ring? I really do not want to go buy a $80 part just for the o-ring!!!

(oh yeah, the t-stat housing gasket was pretty flat and it looked like that was the original leak and now we have a new one or there was two leaks. . . .UUUHG!!)

Birth of a Lowering Spring: Inside Pedders Suspension

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx_xIBxjowg

Pedders Suspension is a brand that might be familiar to enthusiasts of the domestic aftermarket. For more than six years, Pedders has offered suspension components for Chevy Camaros, Ford Mustangs and Pontiac GTOs. What most don’t know is that the company is far from an upstart in the chassis game. Pedders Suspension has been in business in their home country of Australia for over 60 years, starting back in the mid-1950s rebuilding shock absorbers.

Headquartered in Keysborough, just outside of Melbourne in the state of Victoria, Pedders Suspension has a unique business model for their domestic market. Their products are distributed solely through franchised Pedders Suspension retailers, of which there are over 130 in Australia. Think Jiffy Lube, but for suspension needs that range from the inspection and alignment all the way to polyurethane bushings and coilover swaps.

Here in the U.S., Pedders’ business model is completely different, utilizing a more traditional distribution route. In their short time in the American market, Pedders’ products have been used by GM, Lingenfelter and Saleen. Pedders sells the gamut of chassis components, including coilovers, polyurethane bushings and CV shafts, but their core product is springs. In fact, Pedders likes to refer to their manufacturing facility as the “World’s Best Spring Plant.” While that’s up for interpretation, having witnessed the birth of a spring, firsthand, we can attest that quality is very much at the core of their values.

Here’s how Pedders Suspension springs are made:

Birth of a Pedders Spring - Step1

Step 1:
Pedders’ springs begin life as steel from BlueScope Steel, an Aussie company headquartered in Melbourne. Instead of sourcing cheaper materials from China or India, Pedders insists upon using steel that is ISO accredited.

Birth of a Lowering Spring: Inside Pedders Suspension - Step 2

Step 2:
For heating of the metal rods, Pedders relies on gas instead of electricity. With the latter, dips and irregularity in power can cause inconsistencies in the metal. Each rod is baked close to 980 degrees C.

Birth of a Lowering Spring: Inside Pedders Suspension - Step 3

Step 3:
After the steel is heated up to temperature, the glowing rod is then coiled around a mandrel. The solid steel mandrel does not flex or bow with repetitive use. Pedders has more than 100 different steel mandrels in varying shapes and sizes for varying applications.

Birth of a Lowering Spring: Inside Pedders Suspension - Step 4

Step 4:
The next stage in the spring production is quenching, a process in which the hot coiled steel is cooled by oil. The spring is still soft at this point, lacking any memory.

Birth of a Lowering Spring: Inside Pedders Suspension - Step 5

Step 5:
Once the spring is cooled, it goes back into the tempering furnace where the coils are cured. Temperatures are adjusted to suit the gauge of the wire—the thicker, the hotter.

Birth of a Lowering Spring: Inside Pedders Suspension - Step 6

Step 6:
After another cooling phase, each spring is ground to appropriate size and fitment.

Birth of a Lowering Spring: Inside Pedders Suspension - Step 7

Step 7:
For the final step in strengthening the steel, each spring is shot peened with military grade shot.

Birth of a Lowering Spring: Inside Pedders Suspension - Step 8

Step 8:
Pedders scrags 100 percent of their springs. Scragging is a quality-control process where each spring is fully compressed, testing its load for up to 2 mm in variance.

Birth of a Lowering Spring: Inside Pedders Suspension - Step 9

Step 9:
Before they are boxed and shipped around the world, the springs are powder coated. Powder coating gives a spring its brand-distinctive color and protects it from the elements.
.
